Ben-Hur Review
Because we’re in 2016, everything that has to be remade has to be given EPIC BLOCKBUSTER SEQUENCES WITH OVERUSE OF CG. That is exactly what this film is, an epic summer blockbuster which is everything it shouldn’t be.
Kubo and the Two Strings Review
I saw grown adults crying. I saw myself crying. The movie gets to a really depressing place that you question how is the situation going to resolve. Even the opening scene, it engages you and pretty much says “WE’RE NOT YOUR AVERAGE LIGHTHEARTED FAMILY FILM. WE’RE LAIKA!”
Florence Foster Jenkins Review
With outstanding performances from its three main leads, Florence Foster Jenkins is a brilliant crowd pleasing biopic with enough drama and humor to entertain and break your heart from beginning to end
Nine Lives Review
There are so many bad things about this movie for families. But if you’re either drunk, or high, or need a movie to go hook up in because nobody will be at this theater a week after its opening weekend. One way or another, you will have a ball. As a critic, my mind was in pain and torture, but as myself my heart was going insane, which had me laughing my ass off for all the wrong reason.
Pete's Dragon Review
The only thing this story has to do with 1977’s Pete’s Dragon is both the name and the characters names of Pete and Elliot. It’s as if the writers looked back at the original and said yeah lets change this up….a lot.
Sausage Party Review
But in all honesty I have seen a lot of shitty parents take their kids to the worst films that they shouldn’t be introduced to at their age. But with this movie, take em. It doesn’t matter how much the marketing keeps screaming its R rating down your throat, I know some dumbass parent will take their kids to see Sausage Party. And years later from now if your kid grows being fucked up, it’s your fault because this movie will mess your kid up.
Jason Bourne Review
Matt Damon was nominated for The Martian, Alicia Vikander just won an Oscar for The Danish Girl, and Paul Greengrass last film prior to this was Captain Phillips which was one of my favorite films of 2013. This film is a huge step back for all of them.
Nerve Review
With a messed up premise to make teenagers do dumb things, Nerve is a film that boasts charming leads and unexpectedly have more thought to say thanks to directing duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.
Star Trek Beyond Review
Right off the bat with the introduction to the film, Justin Lin’s director perception of Star Trek is very similar to JJ Abrams but in a way much better. You see Lin capture what made his last 2 Fast and Furious films great and applied it to this Star Trek film which is (as Vin Diesel famously says) family.
