Welcome to the Blu-Ray Parade (an introduction)
I have been wanting to create a Blu-ray guide for some time. First and foremost, to keep you up-to-date on the latest Blu-Ray releases, but also to revisit and review my own collection of Blu-rays and let you know which are worth the money.
To date, I own 423 Blu-rays. That may sound insane, but let me tell you a story.
WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY, MY FATHER TOOK ME INTO THE CITY, TO BUY A VHS!
Well, sort of. When I was a kid, my dad bought me a crap ton of VHSes: some Disney classics, Pokémon, and miscellaneous family films. A decade later, my mom crashed out and had me throw 'em out. She was like, "Nobody uses them anymore!" So there goes that brilliant collection of movies I used to own.
In 2020, the moment we went into lockdown, I immediately regressed to my childhood self and was determined to buy all my childhood movies back. Then, when I got that stimulus check, it turned into something bigger: I made the insane decision to purchase every film I’ve ever loved on Blu-ray. On the day the world shut down, I had just turned 22, and celebrated with my first haul at Best Buy. (Remember when Best Buy used to carry Blu-rays? What a time.)
These days, I am lucky enough to get Blu-ray copies for free. It would be selfish to not use this film influencer power for good and give you guys the lowdown on the latest physical media releases.
Welcome to the Blu-ray parade.
